When I look at the Bible, I see a warm and compassionate Jesus telling a simple fisherman He will make him a fisher of men. I see Him speaking to a lowly tax collector and saying, "Follow Me." He also used scholars...like James the Just and Saul of Tarsus. I believe He works through those who seek great depth of understanding and those who are trying to serve Him well.

It is important to study Scripture, for it is God's wish we learn to rightly divide the truth (2 Timothy 2:15). We must do more than study, however, we must apply Christ's teachings. When our faith becomes separated from our daily living, it becomes academic, and we may discover ourselves to be "ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. " (2 Timothy 3:7)
